At Monument Orthopedics and Sports Trauma, we specialize in treatment/surgery for adult and pediatric patients who suffer from fractures, sports injuries, acute and degenerative injuries, or other orthopedic conditions. Dr. Peter Scheffel, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, is a shoulder, knee and hip arthroscopy specialist.

Peter T. Scheffel, MD
Dr. Scheffel is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Trauma Specialist. With an emphasis on shoulder, hip, knee, and sports-related injury, Dr. Scheffel’s mission is to provide his patients not only his orthopedic experience, but use of cutting-edge techniques and evidence-based care. He believes in a combination of skills to provide optimal patient care: the compassion needed to build a trusting relationship with his patients, the ability to integrate and apply a vast amount of information, and the technical aptitude needed to be proficient in the operating room.
Dr. Scheffel completed his orthopedic residency training at a top program in Seattle, WA (University of Washington). While there, he trained under a number of world renowned traumatologists and an expert on shoulder pathology. He completed additional training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the University of Utah where he was mentored by leaders in knee, shoulder and hip pathology.
Following fellowship training, Dr. Scheffel entered private practice in the Lake Tahoe area where he treated a variety of ski-hill related trauma. He and his family are now settled in the Grand Valley where there is ample opportunity to bike, ski and golf. They enjoy the beauty of the area, its people and the warmth of the community, and look forward to making this their long-term home.
