Company Description

Mesa Feed & Farm Supply, established by Dean White and Robert Esplin, began at 5th and South Avenue, offering livestock feeds to western slope farmers and ranchers.

The business moved to a larger location on South 7th Street to expand operations. The business continued until a devastating fire occurred April 9, 1974. The fire, started by high winds and sparks from downed electrical wires, destroyed Mesa Feed, H&M Electric, and the Daily Sentinel press building.

The owners rebuilt and shifted focus to manufacturing a complete line of livestock feeds, selling in several states. Esplin left the business in 1975. In 1980, White and Richard Pierle became business partners and continued the vision.

In 1996, their focus became manufacturing fish food
the line later transferred to Integral Fish Foods. Mesa Feed became retail, distributing Purina and Manna Pro feeds, among others. White retired in 2000, and Pierle and his wife, Judy, operated the business for 13 years.

In 2013, the property was sold, and the business was moved to its current location on South 9th Street, another property owned by the Pierles. In 2015, Mrs. Pierle passed away and current employees Kathy Singer and her business partner, wanting to continue her vision, purchased the business in 2016.

Continued commitment to customer service is extremely important. Merchandise is carried out to your vehicle, and the staff is more than willing to research and find products not regularly carried in the store.

The retail store, in addition to livestock feed, has expanded to be the only store on the Western Slope to sell bulk bird seed, over 215 varieties of vegetable, flower, and grass seed mixes, as well as mixing special orders. Meat-based dog and cat foods are also available, along with small, exotic pet food, and specially ordered chicken and water fowl breeds are offered.

Currently, Mesa Feed Mart has a growing social media presence, website, and soon, a blog that will discuss many issues concerning pets and animals. The information will be made available in several formats. Look for us out and about at events or come by and see us.
